If there is an internet outage for several days, does the Netro smart watering device go to a default program or will it stop all watering?

Weather Conditions setting

Updated at 2021-07-15 14:04:18 UTC

It seems if there is any chance of rain, the smart watering always skips the day. Even if I increase the threshold to the highest setting for both forecast or expectation it will skip the day. Can someone help me properly configure the smart watering feature?  This Saturday, it's expected to rain less than my threshold in the evening, I would like the smart watering to water in the morning.

Thanks

New in Netro. How to reduce watering?

Nachomotos
Updated at 2021-07-14 07:00:23 UTC

Hello, I have just bought and installed a new Netro in my garden. I am running the smart watering option and have 2 questions:

Madrid has a weather quite warm and dry, reaching more than 105 F, but these days we have 85 F (minimum at night 65 F)

1-. How to reduce te watering times but still use smart watering option (Netro is seting almost double time that I had with my manual program, my lawn was green enough). Those watering times would be aceptable for hot days, I suppose.

2-. The 4th zone is used for plant pots. Netro is setting 2 followed watering periods everyday of  3 or 4 minutes each . Thats is too much and the water flows out from the container below the pot. Wouldnt be better to water 2 times but separately during the day?

Thanks!

Nacho

Thank you

Why

Bruce Rodtnick
Updated at 2021-06-26 14:59:00 UTC

I have a front yard with zoysia grass, about a thousand square feet, no trees. My app keeps telling me that it will water this grass tomorrow. It is obvious that it needs watering, but the next morning I see that it has not been watered and it says I will water it tomorrow. There is no rain forecast, it has been very hot. It Waters the rest of my yard properly, it's just my front yard that it does it like this. Why does it keep changing its mind?

Also this same area, my front yard, has no trees but the app says there are trees on it. And I cannot change it. I would think if this area had trees on it it would be taking much more water and the app would water more. How can I change this on the app?

Fine-tuning smart watering for rotors

Ken Laberteaux
Updated at 2021-06-22 04:16:23 UTC

I have a smart zone comprising rotor heads.  As I understand, rotor heads need to be run for longer times than other types of heads because they are only delivering water to one direction at a time (the current direction of the stream of water from the rotor).  Further, the amount of water delivered in a given time depends on how large of an arc the rotor passes through.  For example, if the rotor sweeps through only 180 degrees for 10 minutes, that ground gets 2x the water per unit area than if it runs through 360 degrees for the same 10 min.

So, it seems that, since the choice of rotor head does not include information about the arc it will travel through, there is no way for the smart watering algorithm to know how much water is being delivered per unit area, i.e. a zone with rotors going all 360 degrees is likely under-watering.

I believe this is happening on my lawn, and i would like to make a change in order to increase the time of watering for this zone.

What dials do I have at my disposal to make the smart watering algorithm water this zone for a longer period of time?

Programs that ignore sensors?

Jacques
Updated at 2021-06-20 19:10:17 UTC
Is it possible to create a program that ignores the data from the whisper sensors? When its above 90, I like to run a 3 minute session on all zones to cool the blades off, but if the moisture is too high it skips those zones. I'm fine with my other programs skipping since they're more about the soil.

Smart watering with an irrigation pump

My irrigation system runs off of a pump.  If I enable smart watering, will zones automatically enabled for a certain day run sequentially such that the pump will be turned on at the beginning of the daily cycle and off at the end of the cycle?  I don't want the pump cycling on and off multiple times during the day.

I irrigation zones attaches to the same sensor.

I do not understand why the smart schedule do not schedules the same amount of time, and dates for the 2 zones.

Skipping watering

Updated at 2021-06-10 21:05:17 UTC

I have 9 zones which water every even day. 2 of the zones (flower beds) also have separate program for odd days. When the forecast predicts rain on an odd day and it does not materialize I run the flower bed program in late evening. The problem is that the full program the next day skips the 2 flower bed zones. Why is this?

Can we also add a rain probability % as the inch/rainfall parameter is not shown in weather forecasts. How does the program know when measuring minimum rain restriction.

Good afternoon,

I have two sensors that register always the same % of humidity. One, about 4/5% and the other about 98%.

For a test, yesterday I poured direct water in the sensor that indicate 4% and it jumped imediatelly to 95%, V but after a few minutes it returned down. Also during a small raining it didn’t change. Is there some suggestion to be function them right? Position, mode of positioning into che garden ….

Thanks

How program without smart program

Hi friends, I have a doubt, how can I program my controller without the smart program? What I want is to schedule my lawn to be watered EVERY day at the same time: for example, every day at 8:00 a.m. for 15 minutes.
Thanks and best regards

Recharging whisperer in spring after winter shutdown

Ken Wiens
Updated at 2021-05-28 19:17:48 UTC

I buy a new whisperer every year (on my 4th year now). I also try to charge the old ones each year. I set them in the direct sun. At night I put them under a direct indoor light source. This year they have been charging for a little over 4 weeks now. This gives them enough power to run for 7-10 seconds. As the watering season where I live is only about 4.5 months, this means that every whisperer only lasts me 4.5 months. It's a pretty expensive solution at this rate.

Is my experience common? Has anyone gotten a whisperer to work after being stored over the winter (and I do charge then fully before turning them off for the winter)?  I assume the internal rechargeable batteries just aren't that good. Has any one had any experience changing the batteries?

How do I do long uninterrupted watering?

Douglas Peale
Updated at 2021-05-28 02:59:54 UTC
The Sprite is breaking the watering of my trees into a whole bunch of short bits of watering. Given the way my soil sucks down water, I'd prefer to water my trees for 4 contiguous hours of watering every two weeks, but there does not seem to be a way do specify this directly.

Hi ,

I have a grass area that a split for 2 watering zones. How can I use 1 whisperer to serve both.

How it possible to assign sensors to multiply zone or setup the zone to follow watering pattern of another zone.
