Interpretation of soil moisture readings by Whisperer

Dear customer,


One of your Whisperers may be faulty as it can't measure temperature. Soil moisture is affected by soil compaction, pH, and sensor insertion depth. After moving the device, we suggest reinserting the sensor and resetting the self-learning function. To know when to water, you can adjust the watering settings through the app: set stop and start thresholds to control soil moisture.

Spark not working – won’t start valves despite all attempts

Our R&D team is actively investigating the cause. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Recently, we’ve noticed that other users in Italy have reported the same issue, and they all share a common factor: they are using the Vodafone FWA network. Could you please let us know the brand and model of your home router, as well as your WiFi network provider? If your home is also using the Vodafone FWA network, you can follow these steps to verify whether the issue is caused by the Vodafone FWA network:

First, unplug or disconnect the WiFi router that the device is connected to, and wait for the device’s light to turn red.
Once the light turns red, press the device’s RST button for 1 second—the light will start to flash blue.
Turn on your phone’s hotspot (make sure the phone is not connected to the home WiFi). Then, go to the Netro app > Settings > Controller > Change Wi-Fi network/password to reconnect the device. In the final step of modifying the WiFi settings, connect the device to your personal mobile hotspot.
After connecting to the hotspot, check if the device works properly. This will help determine whether the problem lies with the Netro device or your Wi-Fi system.

Issue with Netro Spark

Could you try contacting your network provider to check for any network restrictions on your end? This is because the issue you're encountering is similar to one of our Italian users before.

Here’s the response from the user:
After trying various solutions without success, I eventually tested the device with a TIM SIM card (another Italian mobile provider), and it started working correctly.
This suggests that the issue is related to Vodafone’s network configuration, likely due to CG-NAT or APN restrictions that block communication with the Netro cloud.
I plan to contact Vodafone to see if they offer solutions such as a public IP or an IoT/M2M APN to avoid these limitations.

The moisture level of your sensor is very low, which may indicate that the area hasn't been watered for a long time. That's why the sensor sends notifications every day.

We recommend watering the area first. After watering, please check if the moisture reading on the sensor updates.

Valve not opening

Dear customer,


Please check the wires. Are they loose or disconnected from the slots? Please also check the common wires and the master valve if you have one. If you believe the wires are correctly installed,  please check if there is a main valve/faucet that is turned off manually. 

To test if the controller is working properly, use a multimeter (AC voltage mode) to test the voltage between the common wire and the zone wire when the zone is active. Normally the voltage should be between 24V and 28V.

You might also want to check whether there are shorted zones or open zones. You just need to use a multimeter to measure the resistance between the common wire and each zone (remove the wires from the slots before testing the resistance). The normal reading would be 20-60 Ohms. If the reading is less than 10 Ohms then you might have a shorted circuit in the solenoid and if it is larger than 80 Ohms you might have an open circuit.
