We noticed that you have just install the sensor for few days. Any possible the soil is very wet recently due to rain or irrigation? Our sensor has self-learning capability, but could take 1-2 weeks to learn. If it's still very high later, please report to us.

Netro's algorithm is based on expert gardening knowledge, one of which is to avoid watering equally everyday and instead to water less frequently but deeply. Netro's default watering reipes for grass is to set moisture low as 60% and moisture high as 90%

If you enable the smart zone feature, Netro will skip smart watering and programs when there is large amount of rain(>0.2inch/ 5.08 mm) or watering regulations and manual restrictions. For more information about Netro smart watering,  here is an article about Netro three watering modes which might be helpful. https://netrohome.com/forum/posts/111

Confused about schedule

Hi Bowie,


Your zones are watered multiple times a day, you probably selected clay, clay loam or loam as the soil type which accepts water slowly, often as little as 1/4 inch per hour and that is why we break the watering into many pieces to avoid water runoff. 


For your zone 4, the watering duration is about one hour because you selected shrubs as your plant type. Shrubs require deeper watering with less frequency because they have longer roots and can absorb moisture from deeper soil, while annual flowers and grass needs to be watered more frequently. 


We just noticed you have disabled the smart zone feature so the rain delay feature will also be disabled. If you still want to use smart watering and water zone 4 more frequently, you can set it via settings -> zones -> SmartZone -> Mode -> Frequent. 



 If you still need the rain delay feature and do not want smart zone schedule to override your own programmed schedule, you can set up the Smart Zone level from Advanced to Basic, which only skip rainning days for your programmed schedule.(Settings->Zones->Smart Zone)

Dear customer,


If you want to water more frequently, we suggest you try the "Frequent" mode(settings -> zones -> SmartZone -> Mode -> Frequent.) You can also choose "customized" mode to adjust watering by providing the preferred moisture level and flow rate of your sprinklers.


if you do not want the smart watering to override your own programs, you can set mart watering level as "basic". (Settings->Zones->Smart Zone)

You should do a manual water to catch up the moisture. In the future, our APP will support reseting moisture by users.

Hi Arthur,

You could set your watering preferred time in setting -> preferences -> schedules. Please note if you create a program or restriction, Netro will strictly follow the watering time and duration, however, preferences will not. Netro will try to water during your preferred time. However, if Netro believes your watering is not enough, it will still water your zones regardless of you preferred watering time.

Rain Delay

Dear RH,


If you turn on the smart zone feature, Netro will skip the schedules (including manual schedules from user programs) when there is a chance of significant rain. However, we just checked your account the smart zone featured is turned off for your zones 10,11,12, so on July 25 Netro watered your zone during rain.  If you do not want smart zone schedule to override your own programmed schedule but still need the rain delay feature, you can turn on the smart zone feature, set up the Smart Zone level from Advanced to Basic, which only skip rainning days for your programmed schedule.

Smart scheduling problem with sensor watering adjustment configuration

The Moisture to Skip watering 50% constraint forbidden smart schedules as well. When the moisture is above 50%, Netro will not water your yard. Generally speaking, 50% is too low. You could increase the value. 

Skipped watering on calendar and the system still watered...

If you want to skip smart schedules on the "schedule" page, please click the schedule, then select "skip all zones". If you select "skip this zone", Netro may water other zones on that time.

I'm not understanding how "estimated frequency and duration" works...

Hi Izio,


Please go to the Schedule page to check your next watering time. The estimated frequency and duration is calculated by Netro's algorithm
and can be influenced by a lot of factors, for example, rain, temperature.

Does Netro whisperer underestimate moisture?

Hi Rick,


The soil around the sensor should be tight, otherwise the moisture reading will be too low and it will be difficult to train the sensor to understand the soil. Could you please check if you insert the sensor tightly?

The low moisture might also be caused by the rising temperature and more sunlight changing the environment. The system is aware of this change and in fact the low moisture will increase the watering. In your case, the change may be too fast and the self-learning mechanism has not responded too it timely. Once the sensor adapts to the weather it will report the report the proper moisture level.

If you turn on the smart zone feature, Netro will skip the schedules(including manual schedules from user programs) when there is a chance of significant rain(>0.2inch). There is rain forecast in your area so Netro will not water your zones in the following days. You could customized the weather restrictions now as well, like I want to skip the schedules on the day after tomorrow as well, or I want to skip if rain more than 1 inch. The setting is in "setting -> preferences -> rain".

Dear Arthur,

After reporting the data, normally the light on the sensor will turn off shortly. However, the light will stay on if all the following 3 conditions are met:

1. You have selected automatic for light mode in the Netro app
2. The sensor battery level is high (larger than 90%)
3. The sensor is in dark or almost dark

We just checked the battery of your sensor and it is 81%. The light will stay on when the battery level is larger than 90%. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
